The waiting game

February 12, 2024

Sunny day in Kathmandu. Documents are done and submitted and now the waiting game. Still feeling a bit tense, will I get an evisa? I am so exhausted I find myself over analyzing the online documents I had to fill out. Did I make any errors? If there are any you’re just stamped “denied” too bad for you and you lose your funds. No second chances here!

Slowly finding the energy to write, the nervous system is a bit tapped out. Arms shaky, probably releasing the built up tension. Amazing the effect of the stress! I can only walk for about 15 minutes then must rest. Got to find the humour. Time to come to India to rejuvenate…I assumed. After four long years of the current gong show, this isn’t exactly what I had in mind. This too shall pass.

I managed to venture out today found a high end cafe, for rich Nepalese or foreigners. Enjoyed a delicious cappucino, and a real croissant. A real treat. Right next door to the Garden Of Dreams.

Fueled by caffeine…on to the Garden of Dreams. As I enter I feel a wave of peace a sense of peace. Chaos of the city lays beyond the gardens walls. Horns are blaring, but the peace of the gardens nullifies their blasts.

I am here at the end of cold season so little is in bloom, but still a good repreive from the city streets.
I am restless, finding it a challenge to relax for long. Time to leave the gardens, first task to build up the stamina to cross the busy streets, and walk back to my hotel. No street lights, with walk signs here…just a quick look back and forth umpteen times and then a dash, stop, dash to safety on the other side. Keeps you on your toes…for sure

Tomorrow I am going on a big adventure walking to the Monkey Temple! As I don’t have any data on my phone yet, so I will screen shot all the directions with landmarks along the way. The roads are many and winding, so I will need all the help I can get. But life is too short and I may never pass this way again so here I go!
