Well, it was bound to happen. I left Canada with a tooth that had an “issue”. When my dentist in Vancouver informed me it would be around $700 to have it pulled. I thought “Hell no, I’m going on a holiday!”
So away I go to India with a tooth that wasn’t REALLY bothering me at the time. I was managing the infrequent discomfort with rife frequencies and MMS. No worries. All was good. India here I come!
I had some days of discomfort in Kerala. I just amped up the frequencies. Voila, who needs a dentist. HaHa
Then a couple of weeks ago I had a massage. It was heavenly! Then, she massaged my face! Not so heavenly! In fact, damn irritating. That evening the tooth was very sore and my face was throbbing.
Reality set in. Time to face your fears. Dental trauma, et all. C’est la vie!
The next evening while visiting my friend, Wilfried, his friend, Peter, joined us. Somehow we got on the topic of dental work, most likely because my tooth was throbbing at the time. He pulls out a business card for his Dentist, Dr. Chandra, saying he’s the best around.
The next day I got up the courage and grabbed a rickshaw and headed to Dr. Chandra’s office. Unsuccessful, as I didn’t have the timings right and arrived mid afternoon, siesta time. Whew, what a relief…on one level.
With the throbbing pain, and my building irrational anxiety I found a homeopathic shop and picked up some remedies to support this most undesirable adventure I was about to undertake. Arnica, Hypericum and Argentum Nitricum, the latter for my foreboding sense of doom. I was prepared.
The next day I set out early to the dental office asking my angels along the way to give me a sign that this was the right dentist and threw in a request to Archangel Michael to please be with me and protect me.
Sitting in the waiting room, trying my best to have faith. In walks an old friend I hadn’t seen for 20 years… Micheal 🙂
He joins me in the waiting room. I share my fear of dental work and he proceeds to tell me Dr. Chandra is the best Dentist in all this area. He has had loads of work done by him. I got my answer. I was in the right place.
I sat in Dr. Chandra’s chair. I told him my fears, he was gentle and very kind. After two x-rays, he informed me I had an infection. I figured since my face was throbbing and my gums were quite swollen. I must go on medication for five days, then he can extract the tooth.
I picked up the medication. Five days to go. I am not one to take allopathic medicine, it’s usually too harsh for my system. But, what to do, had to get rid of this infection. After 3 days I woke up with an incredibly sore throat and a burning tongue. Good God what’s next! It didn’t look good I seemed to be developing thrush! Back to the dentist I go. I told him I couldn’t continue with the medication. Dr. Sasha (haha) felt the infection was gone, as the swelling had gone down considerably. He advised me “Yes, stop medication” then followed by “Would you like I take it out today?” My heart rate increased “No not today” I truly did have a couple of good reasons, it wasn’t only my fear talking. I had to shift rooms in a couple of days. I knew I had to take rest after the procedure, so best to get settled first.
Tuesday morning arrived, and Micheal gratiously drove me to the appoinment, all the while talking me off the edge. Bless him.
I arrived a wee hesitant, but my fears were calmed by Dr. Chandra’s calming energy. He was a gentle soul. I felt confident in him. The injections were a bit uncomfortable, but the procedure itself was smooth and over before I knew it. I was suprised how exhausted I was after. No doubt the ongoing 39 degrees temperature was not helping! I rested for the next few days, accutely focused on the tooth healing properly. Only liquids, on the third day I ate ragi porridge and some super soft papaya and mangoes..tiny bites! I had experienced dry socket many years ago and didn’t EVER want to go through that again!
Michael was a Godsend throughout. He took me in, as I needed a place to stay for five days. He made sure I had all I needed to heal. He was a nurse in the UK for many, many years. All around an efficient, loving caregiver. Such a blessing!
When I was up to it, we had a couple of early morning bike adventures around Bukkapatnam lake (making sure to keep my mouth closed to be safe…who knows what bacteria is lurking in this air lol)
We visited a remarkably old Shiva Temple with powerful energy. The caretakers were full of devotion. Light emanated from the woman. She felt like an enlightened being.
The temples and bike rides were perfect ways to give my brain a rest and take my constant focus off my healing mouth.
It has now been four days since the extraction and I am healing very well, taking homeopathy regularly. Still only eating soft food, carefully. One more week and I can be back to eating Indian food. I tell yah it’s a bit of a challenge to not eat spicy food, and no chai.
But it’s done! What a journey! Please let this be the LAST health hurdle!!!
I can eventually find the humour, although this time it most definately came in retrospect.
With every happening in life I know there is always a blessing. One being the ENTIRE procedure, extraction, consult and x-rays came to the grand total of 600 rupees that’s $9.75! Nine dollars and seventy-five cents. You heard that right! I LOVE a good deal:)
I am feeling such gratitude for the unfolding of events that led me here, to have met this humble caring Dentist, Dr Chandra, a true man of service. And also to have Michael show up, with the message I was on the right path and then support me through the process.
India teaching me once again to trust the process. God is with me:)
